Somebody to Lean On

Building a leadership strategy is a task that no one should try to accomplish alone.  There are many styles, challenges, strategies and varieties.  Everybody needs somebody to lean on.

When challenges do arrive and you NEED help, it is too late begin building a group of like-minded people to turn.  It is important that you take steps now to build a group of people that you can help develop and likewise receive support.  Meaningful business relationships take time and energy to develop.

The time to start is now.

1-If you are already a part of a "peer group," "study group," or "supper club," then I am asking you to activate the group.  These groups go by many names and may be limited to ECP's or some other community.  If you have a group that has lost touch, simply contact them and set up your next meeting and don't adjourn until you have set the next one.  Each meeting should have a loose agenda or goal to make sure the conversations continues with a purpose.

2- If you are not already part of a good group, then I want you to take steps to start one.  Chances are that you have considered this in the past or even discussed with others.  If not, list the people that you admire, look up to, or just want to spend time around.  Then, reach out to those on the lists.  Explain that you would like to begin a leadership discussion group and ask if they will participate.  Most likely, they have been waiting for someone to start something just like this.

3- Sign up for the new Leadership OD program, "Lean on Me."  For a small monthly administrative fee, you can join a small group discussion hosted by Leadership OD coaches.  The groups will be small (10 - 12 individuals) and interactive, connected via Zoom.  We will have guided discussions, all focused on leadership and will include everyone.

All great leaders have a group who have strong groups who have helped them along.  These groups develop over time.  Let's go ahead and get started.
